Results Chronology 1886 to 1999
Currently the years 1886 to 1888, 1892 to 1915, 1920,
and 1923 to 1929 are available.
The year 1886 has been chosen for the start-date of the results chronology because it was in that year that the 2nd Irish Chess Association Congress was held in Belfast. In its aftermath, the fortunes of the Belfast Chess Club were immediately boosted and new clubs were created. This increased interest in organised chess led on to the 1892 North of Ireland Congress, headlined by a Masters tournament. Among the various subsidiary events the first Ulster Individual Championship was organised and the foundations of inter-club administration were laid - although it was to be another 40 years before these became formalised in the foundation of the Ulster Chess Union. We finish in 1999 when the UCU established an online presence, which continues in this ulsterchess.org website.
