Alan Burns Lacksidasical March 2018

On March Sunday 18th Chess players gathered for the Alan Burns Lacksidasical. An afternoon of gentle chess.

The Civil Service Chess club organise 4 tournaments every year. Played after lunch so if players wish to enjoy the excellent cuisine of the Social Club they can. With a time limit of 20min + 5 sec increments. The four tournaments add points to the Alan Burns Grand-prix. The winner of which will be announced at the fourth tournament.

It was brilliant to see John Masterson come through the door - someone of his calibre of play brings out the best play in their opponents. John continues his wins. and again the games go to rating.

John keeps wining. and with a draw on the top table leaves the 3rd round out in front.

Ting Yan Lee takes a 1/2 point off John Masterson. Richard Gould stays in contention and in fact is sharing the lead with John.

John wins the battle against Richard. Chris Armstrong gets a good win against Ting Yan Lee.

After soon exciting play and with the increment some excellent endgames. John Masterson wins the tournament with Richard Gould second and Chris Armstrong winning the rating prize.
