2014-2015 season
This was a busy year for news items as a couple of regular posters provided reports from league matches and long running tournaments.
The season also saw the rejuvenation of a monthly Newsletter which itself encouraged the creation of regular tournament reports.
Monday Tournament Races to a Close
With only a few weeks to go the tournament is reaching a climax, as players not only have to play a minimum of 10 games but also play at least twice in the last 3 weeks.
Ballynafeigh 1 finally beaten
(B&D League 2014/15 Week 19) It came too late to alter the destination of the Silver King, but champions-elect Ballynafeigh 1 fell to defeat against Lindores 1. In Division 2, "Kelly's Heroes" continued their march towards the John Strawbridge Cup with victory over QUB.
"Kelly's Heroes" secure Strawbridge Cup
(B&D Leagues 2014/15 Week 20) The new home of the John Strawbridge Cup was confirmed this week as Belfast South 2 defeated their nearest rivals Ballynafeigh 3. They will (barring any changes in league structure) swap divisions with Fruithill, whose 5-0 defeat at the hands of Lindores 1 consigned them to last place in Division 1.
Northern Irelands Top Young Chess Talent
The top young Northern Ireland Chess talent gathered on Saturday March 14th at Methodist College for one of their regular opportunities to play their favorite game. With youngsters as young as P3 and up to Sixth Form.

Spring Rating Lists Issues
Latest ratings have been computed now the League has finished. Including over 1300 games in more than 11 local & foreign events, 136 players get a new rating with 10 new players inducted.

Champions make heavy work of Fruithill
(B&D Leagues 2014/15 Week 21) With nothing of consequence left to play for, the final week of league play threw up a number of surprising results on individual boards, although overall the matches went according to the form book. Ballynafeigh 1 were held to a 3-2 win over bottom side Fruithill, even though the visitors defaulted on board 5.
City of Belfast Championships Review
The 2015 City of Belfast Championships turned out to be a great weekend's chess with plenty of fireworks and tension right down to the last minute of play.
Raymond Keene plays simultaneous at Bangor Club
James O'Fee organised a brilliant event at Groomsport. Raymond Keene challenged 20 Ulster Players to a game. With the new Mayor of Ards and North Down Alderman Alan Graham opening the event.
2015 Ulster Rapidplay Championship Review
The 2015 Ulster Rapidplay Championship was held in Ballynafeigh Chess club on Saturday 25th April.

The first night of the Summer tournament saw 16 players enjoying a quiet evenings game of chess.
Children enjoying chess in Belfast
The April Childrens Chess was the best attended of the year. With Children as young as P2. and top Ulster Champions playing chess. The problem competition once again proved to be popular with difficult problems being solved by young chess players.

Stormont 2015
Top Ulster Children receive awards at Stormont on June 5th at the invitation of Kieran McCarthy MLA. The youngsters enjoyed a tour of Stormont and an opportunity to play chess in this beautiful and historic building.
