June 2024 FIDE NI rating report

The 1st June FIDE rating list covers the following 5 Northern Ireland tournaments that were held over the past 5 weeks and were rated on 31st May 2024:

100th Anniversary Groomsport Classic

Downpatrick April Rapid

City of Bangor Tony Beckett Memorial Blitz

Nemtzov Cup: City of Belfast Championships

Henderson Cup: City of Belfast Championships

Some of our younger players made massive gains, with 17 year old speed chess supremo Ben McIlroy breaking into the 1900s with his blitz and 10 year old chess prodigy Alwin Micheal jumped 172 points to hit 1704. Meanwhile, 14 year old Anayraj Tripathi has also broken the 1700 barrier with a superb classic rating of 1714, after scooping 88 points over the past month! And the super talented 17 year old Andrew Campbell has jumped into the 1800s with his FIDE classic rating! He continues on his road to 2000 with great success!
